Job Purpose
Conduct verifications and audits on a risk profile basis, applying applicable legislation, policies, and procedures to ensure compliance.

- Provide Clarity & Certainty of tax obligations
- Make it Easy for Taxpayers and Traders to Comply & fulfill their obligations
- Detect Taxpayers and Traders who do not comply and make noncompliance hard and costly
- Develop a high performing, diverse, agile, and engaged workforce towards higher value knowledge and service work
- Expand and increase the use of data to improve the integrity, derive insights & improve outcomes
- Modernize our systems to provide digital & streamlined services
- Drive greater resources stewardship to ensure the efficient use of resources and deliver quality outcomes & performance excellence
- Work with and through Stakeholders to improve the tax system
- Build public trust and confidence in the tax administration system
Duties and Responsibilities
- Demonstrate the ability to finalize audit and verification cases in accordance with the required standards and legislation.
- Demonstrate an understanding of how to deal with objections.
- Demonstrate the ability to improve the quality of the work to be produced
- Demonstrate an understanding of the Under Statement Penalties policy and application thereof
- Demonstrate an understanding of the audit verifications life cycle and expectations
- Demonstrate the ability to detect and identify fraudulent cases and how to handle such cases
- Demonstrate an understanding of the governance and other ethical requirements imposed on SARS employees while performing their duties.

Education and Experience
- National Diploma / Higher Certificate (NQF 6) in Auditing and/or Accounting and/or Taxation and 2 – 3 years experience in a tax, audit, and or accounting environment.
- Alternatively a Senior Certificate (NQF 4) and 5 years of experience in a tax, audit, and or accounting environment.
