Senior Trade Worker – SANS Vacancies 

A vacancy currently exists for a Senior Trade Worker at Mountain Zebra National Park. The successful candidate will report to the Technical Officer.

Park: Mountain Zebra National Park

Closing Date: 12 December 2022

The remuneration package is based on the salary scale of a position with a Paterson B5 job grade and allowances and benefits as specified in the HR Tariff Document and Conditions of Services of SANParks.

The appointment will be in accordance with EE plan targets.

Requirements:

• Grade 12
• Code 10 driver’s licence
• Computer literacy
• National Trade Test Certificate
• 3 years of related experience in the maintenance field
• Computer literacy with working knowledge of MS Office
• Basic knowledge of building maintenance, plumbing, carpentry, electrical etc.  
• Basic knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act

Responsibilities:

Planning, scheduling and execution of technical tasks; To supervise the Technical section; To liaise with trade representatives; To perform all related administrative tasks including logsheets, timesheets, asset control, ordering of materials/parts, stock control and monthly and quarterly variance reports on all related technical expenditures; Provide technical support to all Park related projects; Work closely with suppliers, contractors or project managers when the need arises;

To ensure compliance to Occupational Health and Safety requirements; To manage resources by monitoring machines, equipment, inventory and materials to ensure optimal functioning;To ensure compliance with SABS buildings regulations to increase the life expectancy of structures;Good communication, interpersonal and negotiation skills; Must be willing to work irregular hours.

GOODNEWS: The successful candidate will have to stay in official accommodation inside the park.
